 Dr. H. K. van Poollen studied at the University of Delft, in The Netherlands, and the Colorado School of Mines.

He worked for the Standard Vacuum Petroleum Maatschappij in Sumatra, Indonesia, the Halliburton Company in Oklahoma, and Marathon Oil Company, Denver Research Center. He developed well testing methods and techniques and well stimulation procedures. He was involved in writing mathematical reservoir fluid flow models. Some of these models are still being used commercially. In addition, he rendered technical consultation and services in well testing, well stimulation, and reservoir engineering worldwide.

Dr. van Poollen was a part-time lecturer and adjunct professor in the Petroleum Department at the Colorado School of Mines. There he was thesis advisor to several candidates for the Master's and Doctor's degrees. He is proud of the fact that several of these students have or had prominent positions in the industry.
 

He founded H.K. van Poollen and Associates, Inc. He achieved national recognition for his consulting and teaching services. (Petroleum Courses) He still works as an independent consultant. As a technical witness he has been admired by his clients and frightened their opposition.

H.K. van Poollen is a registered engineer in several states and has published over 70 articles in technical and professional journals. He has authored and co-authored several technical books. In addition, he has authored nine U.S. patents.
